Gracie Sledge came all the way from Minneapolis, and that's only the beginning.
This week on Slightly Unhinged, Justin sits down with his sister-in-law, longtime supporter, and Minneapolis correspondent for an episode that starts with reality TV, friendship, getting older, and being in your “fuck it” era, then opens into a much deeper conversation about community, advocacy, chosen family, and what it means to keep caring when the world feels completely unwell.
Gracie talks about growing up in Minneapolis, living in Nashville for grad school, working in nonprofits, and finding purpose in her role with the ACLU of Minnesota. She shares what Pride means to her, why Twin Cities Pride has become such an important part of her work, and how the queer community in Minneapolis continues to show up for each other in ways people outside the city do not always get to see.
They also talk about entering your 30s, outgrowing friendships, rebuilding your circle, protecting your peace, loving reality TV like it is cinema, and learning that not everyone gets to come with you into the next version of your life.
And then Daniel Pavis joins the episode, because one Pavis was not enough. The family web gets explained, sibling chaos takes over, and we find out who was the favorite child, who traumatized the parents, who would survive reality TV, and why there may or may not still be photos of a full childhood Britney Spears performance somewhere.
It is heartfelt. It is messy. It is very family. It is very Season 2.
